Resident Testimonials

Resident’s Son, Conna Nursing & Convalescent Home

Conna Nursing Home was home to my dad for his last three years. He was given the highest quality care and medical attention. What really made his final years so happy was the friendship and love that was genuinely shown to him by management and staff.

Resident Testimonials

Michael Joseph O’Brien

I just wish to thank you all so sincerely for looking after me so well during my convalescence here. I feel like fat superman after all the beautiful food. This is more than a rest home. It is also a beautiful top-class grade A hotel. I will always call back for a daily visit and give my highest recommendation to everyone.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is it like moving into a Nursing Home?

Moving into residential care can be a difficult and stressful time for all the family. We will work with you to ensure the transition is as smooth as possible, when you move into Conna Nursing and Convalescent Home.

We will become part of your support network and we will encourage you to become part of our extended family. We want you to feel at home with us and will encourage you to bring personal items such as photographs, ornaments and pictures into your room.

What Activities are available at Conna Nursing and Convalescent Home?

Activities and events are an integral part of the lifestyle for the residents here at Conna Nursing & Convalescent Home. We recognise the importance of a full calendar of activities. Staying active makes a huge contribution to individuals’ physical and emotional wellbeing.

Regular exercise helps a person maintain mobility and strength as they grow older therefore we provide entertaining and enjoyable classes that everyone can enjoy. We combine physical activities with social activities such as home-baking with our catering team

How do I go about choosing a nursing home?

The first step in choosing a nursing home starts with finding nursing homes in the most convenient area. In some cases, that may be near your home, but if family members are far away, you may want to consider a nursing home nearer to them. Finding the right nursing home can take some time.

A visit with any nursing home you are considering should be at the top of your “choosing a nursing home checklist.” Make an appointment before you go so you can meet with one of the staff members. It is important to visit nursing homes so you can compare the quality of care, teams and facilities each home offer.

The financial side of nursing care can be overwhelming. There are many financial options available including The Nursing Homes Support Scheme (Fair Deal) and we are more than happy to discuss all your options with you

When can I visit my loved one?

Visitors are welcome at any time during the day. Residents can see their guests in their rooms or make use of any one of our communal lounges and private areas. We also welcome family to complimentary refreshments with their loved one and encourage family and friends to take residents out when they can.

My loved one has always had the same GP. Can they keep seeing them?

They can, provided that your chosen GP is within their catchment area. If not, we have excellent relationships with our local surgeries and can support you to register with them.

Can we bring in furniture from our loved one’s home?

Yes. It is important to have familiar surroundings so we encourage residents to hang photos, bring their most cherished possessions and make their room theirs.

Meal times are very important to my loved one. What kind of service do you offer?

We offer three meals a day as well as snacks available throughout the day. The main meal is served at lunch and consists of a choice main course and dessert, all meals are served in our restaurant style dining rooms. If residents wish to eat in their room, we will also take their meals to them.
